Driving in South Carolina

No offense to the wonderful, lovely and gracious people of South Carolina, but the roads in your state are incredibly poorly marked.  Of course, it does not help that the driving directions I was given told me to take US 17 to Red Bank Road.  (Between US 17 and Red Bank Rd happened to be I-526 and I-26)  And when asking for direction to a store downtown, I was told to take I26 to 17, which is Calhoun Street, and make a right onto King street.  Let me assure you I-26 does dead end into 17, but it is NOT Calhoun St.  So I went into a bad section of town.  Got lost.  Found King St, and got to where I was going about 30 minutes later than I expected. 

Just so you know, I am the navigator.  I don't usually need a GPS system, and I don't normally get lost.  But EVERY SINGLE TIME I go anywhere in South Carolina I get lost. Every time.  All I am saying is that the state needs to mark their roads better.

I received this from my Secret Pal on Friday: This fabulous skein of Fiesta La Luz Multi in the Wild Oak Color-way.  I absolutely love it! Thank you so much secret pal.  Now, I have to explain why I did not post a picture until today.  It has nothing to do with my normal procrastinatory self: No, the delay this time is due to the USPS.

Let me 'Splain.   I live in an apartment building.  An apartment building that has a mail room. A mail room with the individual resident (locked) mail boxes.  And said mail room also has a ledge for smaller packages and an alcove for bigger ones. (This will be important later)

When my mail carrier opens the larger door to the mail boxes (so all of them are open), the carrier can load up each individual mailbox.  The residents only have access to their particular keyed box.  There has to be someplace to put the key, or else the whole mail room/p.o. box thang will have died a slow death.

But no, not here. Here, my mail carrier decided to put my package from SP into my mail box on Friday.  The catch?  This particular package JUST BARELY fit into the mail box: meaning, there was only about an 1/8 inch clearance around the box on the interior of my mail box.  Since my mailbox has that whole lock/hinged door thing going on, there is about a 1/2 of metal surrounding my box.  Which meant:

I could not get the package out of my mailbox to open it. 

So I left a nice, but frustrated note for my mail-person on Saturday morning, hoping that when she came she would take the box out and put it on the ledge.  What I failed to notice was that she had already been there and gone by 10:00 am on Saturday.
