Sometimes a Girl just lucks out...

Sometimes, a girl does something good inadvertently.  I bought this skirt at Anthropologie for date No 1. with Guy No.1.  The top I got to go with it was not flattering, but I love the skirt. (The top went back.)  So I didn't wear the skirt, and have been looking for something to wear with it.  Yesterday, I was going through my stash and came across 12 balls of Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere in color that goes oh so well with the skirt.

Now the real dilemma is what to make with the yarn.  I am getting better at making my own patterns, so maybe I will do that,  or perhaps I will copy an Anthro sweater that is already out there.  Any suggestions?  I have 1140 yards of DK cotton/cashmere.  I know for sure I want short sleeve, but beyond that, ?

I had a productive knitterly week though:  I finished my cropped cardigan on Thursday, and will post pictures of it shortly.  I also finished my Noro small shawl.  I have mad next to no progress on my gift for my One Skein Secret Pal, and have yet to get her the July Skein. I need to get a move on, as the project is big, and if I don't work on it, it will never get done.

  I was at the grocery store Monday, and found these fabulous roses.  They smell wonderful, and are very pretty.  My most recent ex used to buy me flowers all the time, but they never meant much to me.  He gave them to me weekly, and he told me that "men are supposed to buy flowers each week."  I know that there are tons of women out there that would kill to have a guy do that for her, but he never meant it, he just did it.  Don't get me wrong, J28 is a sweet, and great guy, but he just is not the guy for me. 

Which brings up an interesting thought: As I was driving home from the grocery store, I Melt With You by Modern English was on the radio.  I have associated this song with S for almost 20 years. And that got me to thinking.  I have at least one song associated with every important person in my life, except for my best female friend, and J28.  I have several songs that I associate with BJ, some we listened to together, and some not so much (like Your Body is a Wonderland by John Mayer).  There are at least half a dozen songs that I can rattle off that I associate with BJ, the same with S, and even one or two that I associate with J19, my college boyfriend that married my clone.(And Many, Many songs I associate with my family) But there is not a single song that I associate with J28, even after dating him almost 10 months.  Think that was another clue?

There are those books--- the dating ones.

Christine has a point.  If she can find my blog, so can they - even though they don't know the K. Truslow King email- or even if I have a blog.  Quite frankly though, I don't care at all if Guy No. 1 sees this.  I found that experince to be interseting, and I hope that he does understand where I am coming from. 

As for Guy No. 2, we will just have to wait and see. Until I can figure out how to keep my posts private - or so that the blog is visible to only those I allow, I am not going to speak about it in all but the most generic of terms.

Chapter 362 of what not to wear

Or, how to unravel a month's worth of knitting in the half-hour before I had to leave for work.  To fully explain how my Wednesday started, I will have to go back to last night.

Guy No 2. and I are going out on date No. 2, and thus started the second round of what do I wear.  And since I finished the Ella Rae sweater yesterday, I thought it might be good to wear.  But I tried it on, and tried it on again. And it was not flattering AT ALL.  After re-doing the sleeves twice and re-setting them, and then trying to move in the sweater, I started to question my own work,           -completely separate and unrelated to the guy. 

And so this morning, after walking Jack, I came back into the house, and started to undo the sweater.  I now have five pieces at home waiting to be unraveled.  I finally figured out what I want to wear, but of course it is dirty, so I had to do laundry this morning.  Of course that meant that I left this morning with the dryer running, and so now every time I hear the sirens go off, I am in a little bit of a panic, because Jack is at home by himself.  (Rationally, I know he is fine.)

I am still not sure what to wear, but am getting closer to figuring it out.  But the bottom line is that I like this guy, and want things to go well.

Aside from all of that, I have to figure out what to do with 1300 yards of blue raw silk yarn - in order to make a sweater that is flattering!

If only dating were as easy as lace knitting

I have started dating again, and as I said, the date went really well.  I called, and spoke with him briefly this afternoon.  I suggested that we go play mini golf, and he sounded like he thought that was a good idea.  I asked him how his short game was, and it surprised him that I even knew what that meant. 

As for Jack, last night he picked up a frog on our nightly walk, and he started foaming at the mouth.  I picked him up and ran him inside, then completely rinsed his mouth out.  After that, he stopped with the foaming.  I called the vet and asked if I needed to bring Jack in, and the vet said no - as long as Jack stopped and was OK.  Fortunately, Jack was fine, and I did not have to take him to the pet ET.

In other news, I got my first skein from my ONE SKEIN secret pal: She sent me a skein of Oasis soy silk.  It is really very soft, and nothing I have ever used before. (I have borrowed this picture from K-Pixie.) I can't wait to make something with it: I want to see how it feels knitting up.   I told my SP that I am planning on using the skein to make a scarf for my aunt- it has amazing yardage.  I will post a picture once I have started.  Thanks SP!

Bring on the Bling

A RIGHT HAND RING. I had a 1/2 carat indicolite tourmaline and  1/2 carat total weight diamond ring made for myself after I broke up with my boyfriend.  EX was a great guy- did not mistreat me in any way, was kind and caring.  In short, all of the qualities that women say we want.  But there was something missing for me.  As Carrie called it: the Za Za Zu.  I need a man who is not a bad boy, but will let his inner bad boy come out and play.  Sort of like the guy I dated before EX, who I will call BJ.  I still miss him, and it has been several years.  I don't know if I ever told BJ how I felt about him.   

But back to the bling: this ring cost me a pretty penny, but it is prettier on my hand.  And every time I look at it, I know who I am, and where I have been.  And I know I don't have to wait to be coupled to do things, like buy a house or some bling.  But it is also a symbol of what I am still looking for. (Or have already found and lost, and hoping to get back again.)
